DESIGN THOUGHTS AND ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT
The retirement home „BSH Freistadt“ is designed as a three-sided, compact volume. The main entrance is situated southeast in direct connection to the forecourt, containing parking lots for staff members and visitors leading into an open, flexible and multifunctional ground level.
A space for communication between residents and visitors, flowing from the main entrance through the café directly into the garden area is being established. Several roofed entrance areas make it possible for everybody to easily reach their destination inside the building.

The building volume separates the access road area from the backwards situated garden and thus creates a clear organisation for the operation of the retirement home. Through the arrangement of the residential groups the facades are being structured into shorter sections.
